FIFO Workers’ Experience of Remote Village Services

Participant Information and Consent Form

You are invited to take part in a survey about the services at the remote village where you stay for work. The survey is online and takes about ten minutes. You rate a selection of village services and the effect each has on your work and wellbeing, followed by a few questions about your overall experience. You may skip any question and close the survey at any time before you submit it.

Taking part is voluntary and unpaid, and is open to workers aged 18 or over who have stayed at a remote village for work in the past 12 months. Your employer and the village operator are not involved, and your participation and answers do not affect your employment.

The survey asks which village you stay at. It does not ask for your name or your employer, and your IP address is not recorded. Responses are anonymous and cannot be withdrawn once submitted. They are stored on Australian servers, accessible only to the research team, and kept for five years after the study ends. Results are reported in aggregate and no individual or employer is identified.

The research is conducted by InSite Analytics Pty Ltd, with Dr Jack Tooley as Principal Investigator, and is self-funded. InSite Analytics also provides services to the remote accommodation sector. The survey is not run for a client, and no client, employer or village operator receives individual responses.

Findings may be disseminated through aggregate reporting, including peer-reviewed publications, conference or industry presentations, and industry-facing reports or summaries. No participant, employer or contractor is identified. Participants are not contacted following participation and no specific publication or dissemination outcome is guaranteed.
